Methods of Treatment

The human body - when in balance - functions smoothly with no discomfort- with vibrant health, adequate energy, balanced emotions, and sound sleep. Imbalance occurs when the flow of energy throughout the many pathways in the body is stagnated or blocked.

At Calm Spirit Wellness Clinic the goal is to achieve this natural state of balance by removing blockages and stagnation in order to restore the smooth flow of energy to all parts of the body.  Acupuncture and Tuina Trigger Point Release are our main forms of treatment, but we also use additional traditional chinese treatments when necessary.  Click on a method to learn more.

Acupuncture

A technique of inserting and manipulating fine needles into specific points on the body. These points lie along meridians along which the body's energy flows. The insertion of the needles removes stagnations and restores the normal flow of energy.

Tuina Trigger Point Release

A therapy that has been used in China for 2,000 years. Through the application of trigger point release and manipulation techniques, Tuina seeks to remove stagnations and establish a more harmonious flow of energy along the meridians. Tuina methods include the use of hand techniques to massage the soft tissue (muscles and tendons) of the body, acupressure techniques to directly affect the flow of energy, and manipulation techniques to realign the musculoskeletal and ligamentous relationships (bone-setting).

An ancient Chinese practice where a flame is used to create a vacuum in glass cups which are placed on the skin. The vacuum created by the flame pulls the skin into the cups, which creates an increased flow of energy and blood.

Moxa

Moxa is an herb that has healing properties. There are times when heat is needed to help restore balance. The Moxa herb is burned close to the skin to warm an acupuncture point or a section of the body. The Moxa burns like an ember, with no flame. Heat created by the moxa invigorates and strengthens the energy flow in the body.
